Background and experience
Dennis Simms FRSA
My career has centred around leading and developing leaders in education.
I spent a decade working in schools in Nottinghamshire including in Secondary education, Post-16 and latterly Alternative Provision, as Head of School. I have since worked in research and policy, at the Centre for Social Justice, as part of the IntegratED programme, where I authored the The AP Quality Toolkit.
I co-chair Heads Forward (Heads Forward is Teach First’s National Network of Ambassador Head Teachers) which supports 100+ school and system leaders to work collaboratively, share best practice and improve the sector.
I am an alumni of The Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford’s Pathway to Success programme and a Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts.
I have an MA in Educational Leadership and the National Professional Qualifications Senior Leadership and Headship. I am a trustee for Reach Academy Multi-academy Trust.
As the CEO of Simms Coaching and Consultancy I support schools, charities and businesses across the country to better understand the challenges they face, make strategic plans and implement sustainable improvements in the areas that matter to them.
